On 16 June, 2012 - The Kem Kecekapan Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia for Trong Zone in the Larut Matang and Selama District was held in SK Temerlok. This is the first time I am involved in the Red Crescent programme in this zone. Being welcomed warmly by Pn Noraini, the Chairperson and Mr Murugan Subramaniam whom I know and who themselves are actively involved in RC work, I felt wonderful. Getting to know the teachers here means we will be able to work together for this zone and perhaps organise more RC activities and invite other RC teachers from other zones as well to participate. Around 70 participants joined this camp which required them to participate in 4 main competitions; marching, pitching and dismantling tents, bandaging and cooking . RC Link members from 6 schools and also from SMK Dato Wan Radzi. 11 members from my school, SK Bendang Siam participated as well.
It's the camping experience that is important and the new knowledge and experience will be treasured. Unfortunately, the time was insufficient time and due to other circumstances that the participants just came for a day programme. Perhaps , next year it will be better .
The 'buah melaka' they made were quite good. Got to taste those made from different groups. This is one of the survival skills we teach participants during camps.
The Red Crescent committee of teachers here who had helped run the activities can surely cooperate and organise activities and programmes. Hopefully, the Selama Red Crescent teachers will be able to do so as well and I will help if possible.
Being in the LMS District Red Crescent Committee , I hope to be able to contribute in a small way.
