Have been a Red Crescent member since 13 till now.
The love for serving society, the poor, the unfortunate and
the sick and the RC principles are part of me, my beliefs and practice.
Besides teaching first-aid in school, I enjoy conducting RC camps for its
young members.
Since becoming a committee member of the Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti
( PDK Nur Gemilang Selama ) run by the Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat, have
been involved in its activities. It's important to be able to serve the
pupils with special needs here. Though I can't do much but at least had contributed
in some ways . Hopefully, this centre can expand to accommodate the growing
number of pupils. Perhaps next year, will see some positive signs of change.
Other activities are linked to KRT Pekan Selama ( Rukun Tetangga ) ,and
PUSPANITA Selama. Sometimes it is a relief if I don't hold any posts as it
allows me to take a deep breathe and relax. If I have to organize activities ,
then I have to do it well. Also, will support the organizing committee too.
As a member of WCC ( Women Centre For Change , Penang ) and
PWW ( Perak Women For Women ) has attended a counseling course to be able to help in counseling people. Have attended a number of seminars on women's rights, workshops on gender equality and read many books on the topics such as Islamic or
Syariah Law, Civil Law on marriages , the Domestic Violence Acts and How To Help Rape Survivors etc. There has been increasing cases of harassment,domestic violence, child abuse and divorces etc arising. I have to reach out to them,
comfort and counsel them and give them hope to live a better life. This task is risky and challenging and protection reports have to be made.
Always hope I will have the strength and good health to do the things I love. Have to stay alert and act fast to take action. Of course, whatever it is my relationship with the various agencies or departments must be good. Especially, have to respect and believe in the empowerment and trust on me to handle certain cases with full responsibility.
Appreciate with thanks, the P.J.K. ( Pingat Jasa Kebaktian ) medal bestowed on me by His Royal Highness, the Sultan of Perak in 2008. With an award or without one , I will still be me as it is not important. However, it's meaningful to me as I know I am being appreciated and it definitely has ignited my efforts to perform better. I am ready to meet the Sultan or Regent of Perak as I know if the issues are concerning the rakyat, His Royal Highness will listen to me. I will not let those who trust and believe in me down. That's my promise.
Social work takes a lot of my time so it is necessary to divide my time wisely. I do appreciate my friends who show their interests in the various activities and give their support in all forms as together we do make a difference in others lives. Life is short I always remind myself so live it to the fullest. To certain people it means we have to enjoy every moment. It can simply mean doing the things we love most, may it be the simplest things in life. To be able to breathe the fresh morning air, smile to our neighbours and lend a helping hand to those in need, reach out and touch their hearts.
I believe in myself that I if I offer help sincerely and sacrifice my time and effort for a good cause, I should not regret and stay as steady as a rock despite the back-biting and negative comments we hear. I just continue doing what I think is right and hopefully all will turn out well in the end.
I believe in myself and follow my heart and always put in mind that I don't have to think about what other people think or say about me. It's because we can't stop others from talking whether we're right or wrong, the talking will never end. There are more important things to be done.
