FLOWER POWER: Recent Activities

This year I was fortunate to be able to attend the Annual General Meeting ( Mesyuarat Agung Puspanita Selama ) . Last year, I missed it because was on duty as the State Judge in the English Carnival in Teluk Intan so was not selected into the committee during the elections. Anyway, have joined and been active in this society for women government servants or their wives. Had served as the committee member for a few terms. Remembered those days when Puspanita used to be active especially with Datin Hayati , our Assistant ADO, Dato' Hj Sinek's wife. During that time, I had opportunities to represent Puspanita Selama in a number of activities outside of Selama, that were held in Ipoh. Sadly, nowadays, the members here have not much opportunities to be involved in the state programmes. Whatever it is, Puspanita Taiping committee members will be invited and hardly is there a chance to be out. That happened since a few years back due to Puspanita admistration changes. Well, this shouldn't be happening as we are progressing forward. Well, it's up to the authorities to realise this and take some action. On the 10 April, Puspanita Selama organized a motivation programme entitled,"Meniti Ranjau Ke Puncak Jaya" graciously officiated by Y.B. Dato Hamzah Zainuddin, Larut MP who also contributed RM3 000 for Puspanita activities here. It was attended by around 65 students from the primary and secondary schools here, mostly children of Puspanita members. The speakers who delivered their talks were En Muhd Adam Md Saud, Counselor from SMK Dr Burhanuddin and Pn Noor Aini bt Don from SMK Sg Bayor. Our own Puspanita Selama Chairman, Pn Sarinah Mohd Sidek delevired the slot about managing stress. Had an opportunity to attend S.J.K. ( C ) Chi Sheng 1 Sports Day this morning. I recalled the time when my three children were small and I used to cheer them as they were on the field. Time really flies and they have all grown up. My husband, Chuah was invited to present medals to the little cute kindergarten kids. I am wondering whether the enrolment of this school will grow bigger than its 159 at this moment or otherwise. The school will get its new 3 storey building hopefully by the end of this or early next year. Thanks to the effort of the School Board of Governors, Parent Teachers Association, Selama Chinese Association, Chi Seng Old Boys Association, ADUN, Member of Parliament, DS Ong Tee Keat, Menteri Besar , Datuk Seri Zambry , the Ministry of Education, all parents, ex-pupils ,teachers and other generous donors who have collectively joined effort to see that the building of the new block become a reality. It had long been postponed and hopefully it will benefit the children and future generation. It is here that my children receive their early education and where I too contributed as I conducted English classes for its pupils before.
