Wow! The Charity Ballet Performance at the State Banquet Hall in Ipoh on 25 Nov, 2009 was amazingly wonderful. "When Dreams Come True" is the perfect title for this magnificient production of ,"The Little Mermaid" and " New York, New York". Congratulations and thanks to each and every one who had helped to make this event a great success.

We appreciate with thanks the contribution of the most wonderful and generous lady, Datin Rosalina Ooi, the principal of City Ballet who directed and choreographed this magnificient production. Of course, to the many ballerinas, dancers and a large number of crew members who had been planning and training so hard for these two performances, credits go to you all too. The organising committee had indeed done a good job in organising this great event of the year. My hats off to them too.

Perak Women For Women Society is indeed lucky to have the support from City Ballet Academy in this fund-raising project. Many generous donars have come together to contribute for a good cause in helping to realise the objectives of this NGO to raise awareness on women's rights, gender equality and problems such as domestic violence and sexual abuse. This society will provide its service through PWW Service and Information Centre at 52, Jln Sultan Azlan Shah, Ipoh. Women and children who experience family crisis may seek help such as counseling and legal advice. There are education and skill-training programmes provided as well.

Personally, as a member , I'm proud to say this society is doing a good job. It all started about a year ago when I searched for such society in Perak and came across PWW website which is www.perakwomenforwomen.org/ and immediately registered as a member. I was already a member of Women Centre For Change, Penang so like her sister society, PWW is just fine. I wanted to help someone urgently then and luckily I managed with WCC and PWW's help. It has been a year now, and the life of this person and her children is definately better than before though there are still many challenges to face. Until today, I have heard of many cases which need attention but it takes some time before help reaches the unfortunate ones.

I believe, PWW will be able to expand its wings to towns like Taiping one day so that its service can reach out to many women in Perak especially. It will indeed serve those who find it a big problem to travel far to the centre due to tight financial budget and other personal problems. Hopefully, its committee members, members and volunteers will be able to continuously show their interest, cooperation, dedication and sacrifice their time and effort for many years to come. This 6 year-old society indeed needs more support from the generous and concerned public.

I strongly feel, NGOs such as women organisations or societies for the poor and needy should get strong support from the government which gets the fund from tax-payers who are the rakyat. Rich tycoons, or the elite society could contribute more financially to genuine societies for a noble cause. Others may contribute their time and effort which is more difficult actually.

We hope that we can work hand in hand to prevent more social ills and help overcome these problems so that we may be able to enrich people's life for the better. At the end of the day, there must be peace in each home and human rights protected.

Anyway, wonderful programmes such as charity shows or any fund raising projects must be carried on and young ones should follow the footsteps of good role models and the tradition of volunteerism or helping others will go on for ages.

Thanks to each and everyone who was involved in making the Charity Ballet Performance, PWW and City Ballet fund raising project a great success.

  5. Thanks and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Dato Ti and family. Hope the coming year will be a more peaceful and brighter year for all of us. 2009 has been very chaotic and even disastrous which had brought misery to many people. Let's pray for peace together.
