Tmn Merdeka Wanita MCA Committee met to plan activities.
The Wanita MCA of Taman Merdeka Branch in Selama, Perak successfully organised an educational and fun trip for Wanita MCA members and non-members on 13 - 15 Dec.2008. We visited Yong Peng, Muar, Malacca and K.L. The weather, hotels and menu at the famous restaurants were all fine. The participants of the trip were cooperative and pleasant throughout the trip. The visits to the many interesting places were worthwhile. In Yong Peng, we visited the UK Goat Farm and C&C largest mushroom farm. In Muar, we went on a cruise, visited the otak-otak factory and a Chinese temple. Before checking into Emperor Hotel in Melaka, we shopped and had dinner along Jonker Street.
The next day, we visited historical Melaka and everyone enjoyed the nyonya dishes in a Baba and Nyonya restaurant. The ride up the Menara Keris was fun. We visited the Bee Farm too before leaving for Seremban. After stopping to get the famous Seremban 'pau' , we stopped to have a lovely dinner at a restaurant.
Everyone had an opportunity to visit Putrajaya at night. It was an extra bonus to the trip. Then we checked into Hotel Maluri in Cheras.
On the last day, we visited The Royal Selangor Pewter Factory and bought chocolates at the largest chocolate shop. After that was the climax of the trip which was a visit to Wisma MCA where we met our Wanita MCA National Chairman, Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun who personally invited us for lunch there. There we met Y.B. Senator Heng Seai Kie, our Perak Wanita MCA Chairman and National Secretary General. We were very surprise to meet the lovely Datuk Kian Sit Har, Melaka Wanita MCA Chairman whom we have contacted before but could not meet as there was a Wanita Central Committee Meeting in Alor Gajah during our visit to Melaka . We also met the beautiful Jessica Lai May Kum, Beliawanis Chairman. There were some speeches and then lunch was served. We were taken to the upper floors to visit the conference room and others. It was a golden opportunity to be at Wisma MCA for the participants and they were impressed indeed.
I am very happy as I had planned this trip and made all the contacts well and everything turned out better than expected. Without the support from Tang Kok Hua, our branch chairman who is a very nice person to work with, this trip wouldn't be a success. Not forgetting all the committee members of Tmn Merdeka Branch who had supported us right from the beginning. Too bad about 6 of them couldn't make it due to some unforseen circumstances. Initially, I sincerely hoped that more Wanita MCA Committee members from the Larut Division could join this trip and it would be a truly Wanita MCA affair but things didn't turn out this way. Anyway, there will be another time.
To the generous sponsors who are YB Datuk Hj Daud, Mr Leong Chee Keong, Mr Wong Peng San, Mr Ng Chong Lin and MCA Larut, I wish to thank them all. With the contribution we had managed to organise the trip and meetings as our Taman Merdeka had no fund at all. Especially, to all the lovely participants of the trip who had to pay on their own for this package tour, thanks a lot. I have to thank Erica Lau, my tour agent for helping us to plan this trip and do all the bookings. The driver was indeed a very cautious person and we really like our tour guide, Kelvin Goh. He kept us informed all the time about almost everything. Ah Keong, our co-driver was easy to get along too. So, we were very lucky to have all the nice persons around.
Well, the last stop was at Acquaria, KLCC and then off we went to beat the traffic jam in KL. We stopped to have dinner in Tanjong Malim. Arrived in Selama, Perak at 11.30 pm. Everyone had done a lot of shopping and walking and was very tired.
This is the biggest and first programme organised by our Wanita MCA Taman Merdeka Branch and we hope to organise other interesting activities for the people of Selama. Our committee will be working closely with other committees of the division and other branches in Larut to organise activities together to bring up the good name of Wanita MCA.
Lots of photos were taken and DVDs will be produced.
