Had the honour of cutting the cake as the reunion party
was on my birthday.
This is our Form 5 Pure Science Class group photo.
32 years after leaving school and we meet again.
A truly creative cake.
A wonderful celebration. Keep on smiling and be happy
always.
Sweet memories. Shall we meet this way again.
9 August 2008 seemed to be the most wonderful birthday I've ever had. It happened to be our Convent Pulau Tikus Year of '75 reunion and there are so many lovely memories to treasure. I couldn't believe it was all happening at ENO Hotel, Penang yesterday evening.
Thanks to all who had made it happen, especially Bernadette Yap, Phaik Teen, Lai Lin, Soo Bee and others who really had put in lots of effort to make this event a great success. This special event commemorated our 50th birthdays and imagine we've all turned 50 already! Yet, how stunning and youthful some of us look. One could hardly believe we're half a century. Yes, we all believe health is top priority. This event shows the strength in reuniting old friends whom at one point of our life had shared special moments together. Perhaps, it is good to catch up with time and rekindle old friendship by keeping in touch and show that we still care for each other.
It was trully emotional and exciting as well. I had to hold back my tears as I met and hugged many old friends. It was fun trying to recall each other's names and talking about the good old days. Amazing as about 70 of us, some of whom returned from overseas to be together at this gathering in this beautiful hotel to have a lovely time. Cameras went clicking and lots of photos will soon be uploaded to out CPT Gallery for all to see. A CD Magazine will be produced too. I just couldn't wait to get one.
8 dear teachers turned up to join us. It is good to show them all our love and appreciation. They couldn't remember most of us as it had been 33 years ago that we left school. Some ladies still kept in touch with them , how lovely! Miss Tan or Dr Tan now said she could put pieces of memories back after seeing the slide show flashed back till 1975 or earlier. Then, there was Mrs Marsh who flew in from Australia. I loved her literature classes and regretted to have joined the Pure Science class in Form 4. If I hadn't I would have enjoyed more literature lessons then. I could have done better in Arts then.
Then, those born in August blew the candles off as the others sang a birthday song. I was given the honour to cut the cake as it was my actual birthday. I appreciated it and considered myself very lucky indeed! Wow! It was a wonderful birthday cake, so creatively designed with 2 figurines of schoolgirls in our blue uniforms. Perfect work of art by Mei Sin. Thanks for that and those lovely handmade flowers too.
I can proudly say, our '75 batch turned out to be a wonderful lot. Successful in our own ways and as sweet and bubbly as ever. There had been a few mini reunions before this grand one. I have to make sure I don't miss the future ones from now. Hopefully, there'll be another grand one like this too one day and I'm sure some will volunteer to organise it. We'll give them full cooperation and see it happen again.
Sad to say, I still miss some dear friends who couldn't make it to the reunion and sadder still to hear that we've lost some forever. I hope we'll be able to contact those who are still out there one day. Well it had been the most wonderful reunion party we've ever had and sweet memories will linger on our minds forever. Thanks friends and may we meet again, take care girls!
