Retiring at 58

My grand daughter, Grachael Chan

My husband, Chuah Ton Huat, Poh Ling,
Poh Teng and Poh Imm with Grachael.

Recently I chose 58 as my retirement age. For me, it's the love for teaching that drives me to work and I know I can still contribute. Perhaps, I have to take things easily by then.

I believe it comes from the heart to work sincerely not only for the sake of the good pay.
Yes, by then my pay would be good and after all these years of hard work, more money earned
may be used for travelling.

Another matter to think of is our health. I pray that I will continue to have the strength and good health to carry on. As not only will I be involved in school work but also social work too.
I hope I will be able to serve the community, the poor and needy.

Being involved in social work will make life more meaningful and worthwhile by the end of the day. I want to be a happy granny too and young at heart. Perhaps by 58, I can write a book of my life experiences.

Well thought of further studying to get a degree in Social Science which I am interested . However, after some deep thinking, have put off the idea. It's the children's turn to further their studies and me to give them my support in whatever they choose to do. Should have gone to university some time back. Perhaps, there'll be still a good opportunity and my dream will be realised, who knows!

Well life is full of surprises and I am going to take it as it comes along. Therefore, 56 or 58 will be the same as we live life to its fullest day by day.

Some of my friends have chosen to retire at 56, well and good. They have other plans to do. In case I have a wonderful offer to do something related to teaching or managing a kindergarten privately I mean, I might even opt out. Well so far so good and I won't let this matter worry me.
