Congratulations To Both My Darling Pupils, Lia & Anis

I am happy today that I've to write in my blog again. After days of practice, both Lia Nazia Naziera and Anis Sofea, my Year 6 pupils succeeded in becoming the Selama Zone level public speaking champ and runner - up in the story-telling competition respectively.
I believe, being non native speakers but with proper training and full comitment, these Malay kids can surely perform just as well as other urban pupils.
I must say, their victory came as wonderful news. I do hope Lia will perform better at the district level competition this Saturday. Sad to say, Anis Sofea will not be given a chance to participate at the district level. It is important to expose these rural kids outside so I hope and pray that next year some kind souls could sponsor these English competitions at district level to provide opportunities for them. Let not mere shortage of funds deprive these children as our aim is to improve English. Therefore, participation of pupils should be wider. I also hope that another darling pupil, Naja Qutreen who has won the LMS District Level 2 Malay Story-Telling Competition will do S.K. Selama and LMS proud at the State Level competition soon.
Keep on proving the best of you my dear pupils!

To tell you the truth and honestly, I felt slightly down after the result of the Anugerah Khas Cemerlang for Sekolah Rendah Parlimen Larut was announced on Saturday, 3 May recently. Actually, all of us in S.K. Selama and our pupils' parents who were in the hall felt that our school should be the winner and could not believe their ears even after whatever reasons were given. After all we had been able to maintain our excellence since the 60's not only three years ago. But when this award was given and everyone in this district knows well we felt let down. What should have happened was just present RM20 000 to the particular school as a gift quietly and not embarrass another party! I hope you get what I mean.

Well to console ourselves, let us all in S.K. Selama pray hard and believe that God's willing more wonderful things will happen. Believe me, if all teachers continue to work harder sincerely to educate the pupils and pupils themselves put in more effort to achieve success, God will bless all of us more than that. Perhaps our dear teachers will be blessed with good health and still work diligently and happily though faced with many challenges. Most importantly, S.K. Selama should try to produce as many pupils who not only excel in studies but are also disciplined and active in co-curricular activities. We will never stop trying!

Anyway, I have more important things to concentrate on than to waste time thinking about the disappointing news. So back to work and my core business.

Keep on smiling!
