A New Beginning
Hello friends! How are you? Well just came back after attending the 2nd MICELT International Conference at the Swiss Garden Resort in Lumut. Surely have learnt a lot , met a lot of people and made new friends. See, I’m having fun blogging now. Though it is not sophisticated . I’m proud to say it is a good start. Thanks to Shima,(http:www.nazhatulshimanolan.blogspot.com/) the presenter of ‘Bloggosphere’. I was given the honour to chair her session and I’ve discovered a young friendly vibrant lady and an excellent teacher. I’m sure her students love her very much. I really love attending conferences like this. Congratulations to UPM, Mr Jaya and the whole committee for this successful event. As usual, I have to miss a few sessions because they clashed. This is the first time I’ve met Carolyn Graham whose jazz chants I do with my kids. She’s a wonderful lady! I do hope all the primary school teachers who attended this conference carry out an in-house training session and share with the others what they’ve learnt. It will be great as well if the grandmas or mums can do these chants with their little ones too. Anyway her e-mail address is carolyngraham@hotmail.com . I do hope some of us who have met at the conference could get in touch with one another. Wherever we are, we all have the love for English. Once in a while write something like in this blog like what Shima said to express our feelings or opinions. Let’s share. At my age, I feel all excited about the latest technology. I’m trying my best to help build my school website http://www.skselama.net/ . Well, I’ll never stop learning. I’m still looking forward to a proper ICT course which the Education Department is organizing. I wonder if I will get a chance to attend one. Luckily, I’ve Azlan or ‘Sifoolan’, an ICT expert and a friend who is always willing to guide me. One thing I’ve discovered is it’s better to be humble, friendly and never feel shy to ask for help from others than to lose out in the end. Kids nowadays learn a lot from computers so even with my Yr. 6 exam classes, I still try to use the computer in my teaching sometimes. I would like to thank JPN Perak for sponsoring a few Master Teachers, ETeMS Master Trainers and around 80 primary school English teachers, mostly from the rural areas. Hopefully, the kids will gain a lot from the teachers and the students’ attitudes will change for the better and their English standard will improve. Happy Chinese New Year to all who are celebrating it.Take care everyone.
